Allie C. Hobby was born in New York in 1923. In Rye his family lived at 9 Nusery Lane. Allie enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Allie C. Hobby, of Rye, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the age of 78.
Born on September 30, 1923 to Allie and Marietta Hobby was a lifelong resident of Rye. He graduated from Rye High School in 1942. Mr. Hobby was the proud recipient of a purple heart with an oak leaf cluster received in World War II as a member of the U.S Army. Upon returning home to Rye after the war, Mr. Hobby married Dorothy Van Loo of East Port Chester, CT, on December 24, 1946. He was a police officer for the city of Rye until his retirement in July of 1976. As a member of the Rye Police Pistol Association, Mr. Hobby received numerous awards as an expert marksman.Upon his retirement, he became a Sextion at the Rye Presbyterian Church of which he was a member.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, his sons, Barrie of Rye and William of White Plains and his daughters, Lon Cindrich of Somers and Lisa Johnston of Port Chester. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren. Mr. Hobby was predeceased by his sons, Charles and Donald, and also by his sisters, Sarah Kelly and Margaret Romanello. Family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Post Rd, Rye, NY. Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Rye Presbyterian Church Friday 2:30 pmMarch 8, 2002. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice of Westchester would be appreciated.
