 Dr. Basil Harris
Dr Basil Harris was born on October 4, 1918, in Rye, New York, his father, Basil, was 28 and his mother, Mary, was 25. He had two brothers Robert and Richard Harris. In Rye his family lived on Dogwood Lane and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
Dr. Harris served in the Army during World Ware II as a captain in the Medical Corps. 82nd Airborne Division.
 He married Marie Brady Murray on December 26, 1942, in Manhattan, New York. They had ten children during their marriage.

Miss Marie Murray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Murray of 686 Park Avenue and Southampton, L. I. , and Lieut. Basil Harris, Jr. , Medical Administrative Corps, U. S. A. , son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil Harris of 36 East 72nd St. and Rye, were married Saturday morning at St. Patricks Cathedral. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Thomas E. Molloy of Brooklyn.

Dr. Harris graduated from Georgetown University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Harris held various positions in his career, including assistant dean of Seton Hall College of Medicine, a faculty member of New York Medical College and a director of health services at Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals. He retired in 1980. He had also been a member of the boards of Hunter College and St. Joseph's College and a treasurer of the Catholic Youth of the Archdiocese of New York.
Dr. Basil Harris, former director of health services at Metropolitan Hospital Center in Manhattan, died on January 21, 1989, of lung cancer in Rutland Memorial Hospital in Rutland, Vt. He was 70 years old and lived in Manchester Center, Vt.
He was born in Rye, N.Y. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, the former Marie Murray; six daughters: Marie, of Barrington, N.H., Anne Majic, of Fernie, British Columbia, Margaret, of Ithaca, N.Y., Catherine, of Portsmouth, N.H., Maureen Kewitt, of Cody, Wyo. and Charlotte Harris, of Bedford, N.Y.; four sons: Basil, of Brookline, N.H., Thomas, of Rockford, Ill., David, of White River Junction, Vt., and Robert, of Portsmouth, N.H., and 12 grandchildren.
Post Scipt - His father Basil Harris received the Order of Knight of Malta, one of the highest Catholic lay honors from Pope Pius XI in 1935.
