Frank P. Gagliardo

Frank P. Gagliardo was born July 7, 1916 in Rye, NY, to the late Frank and Grace Roberto Gagliardo. He had four brothers and three sisters and he was raised and educated in Rye. In Rye his family lived at 107 Maple Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. In 1940, Frank was working as a caddy at a local Golf Club. When the war broke out he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army.

Frank served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was wounded in June 1945 by a shell fragment. He received many medals including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

After the war Frank married Angelina Barbera in May 1949 and moved to Portchester, NY. Frank was a lifelong employee of Arnold's Bakery in Greenwich, CT. and was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church.

Frank P. Gagliardo died June 30, 2001. He was 84. Mrs. Gagliardo died in 1989.

At the time of his death he was survived by his sons, Sandy Gagliardo of Port Chester, and Frank Gagliardo of Stony Point, NY, brother, Daniel Gagliardo of Long Beach, NY, sisters, Elaine Dellapoli of Stamford, CT and Alice Ianello of Port Chester, five grandsons, Jason, Brett, Samuel, and John Gagliardo, one granddaughter, Cathy Smith and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony and Leonard Gagliardo and sisters, Jennie Palermo and Kate Ladestro.

Another brother Samuel P. Gagliardo was killed during WWII.
