Alan Fuller Arnold
Alan Fuller Arnold was born on June 12, 1899, in Manhattan, New York, to May G Mamie Goldsmith, age 27, and Oscar M Arnold, age 33. In Rye his family lived at 92 Captains Lane.
Alan enlisted at Ft. Slocum, NY on October 24, 1917 during WWI. He served as a sergeant in the 140th Aero Squadron. Alan served overseas from February 16, 1918 thru December 10,1918
Aero Squadrons were the designation of the first United States Army aviation units until the end of World War I. These units consisted of combat flying, training, ground support, construction and other components of the Air Service. After World War I ended, the majority of these squadrons were demobilized. On March 4, 1920 Alan married Edna M. Schiff in Manhattan and he had started work in the insurance business
The young couple started a family and by 1930 were living in Rye, NY with their two children. By 1940, Alan had rose to Vice President of his insurance company.
At the out break of WWII, Alan made the decision to reenlist in the US Army Air Force. In March of 1944 he was commanding officer of the 370th Technical School Squadron at Scott Field, Army Air Forces Training Command radio school.

Major Alan F. Arnold of Rye, commanding officer of the 370th Technical School Squadron at Scott Field, Army Air Forces Training Command radio school, went to Assumption, 111. , recently, to present the Air Medal won by 2nd Lieut Edgar L. Richardson of Rural Route 3 to his father, Leo C. Richardson. Lieut. Richardson is reported a prisoner of the enemy. During World War I, Major Arnold was presented the Distinguished Service Cross, posthumously, which was won by his brother, Lieut. Howard W. Arnold, killed in action in 1918. After WWII, Alan resumed his career in insurance and once again enlisted to serve his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Lt. Col. Alan F. Arnold U.S.A.F. Ret. died May 18, 1966 at Ft. Ord. Calif., aged 66, a native of New York, resided at Pebble Beach. Calif., since Oct., 1960, a Veteran of W.W. I, W.W. II and Korea; husband of Vivian Arnold of Pebble Beach, father of Susanna of Pacific Palisades and Howard W. of New Jersev, brother of Elizabeth Kauffma'n of New York Citv; also survived bv 7 grandchildren.
Military honors and committal services were held . Monday. Mav 23, 1966 at Mountain View Cemetery. Altadena, CA.
