BIOGRAPHY
Garnet T. Trainor
Garnet Thomas Trainor was born on February 10, 1894, in Victoria, Australia, to Edith Agnes Ripper, age 23, and Thomas James Trainor, age 28. In Rye his family lived at 110 Brevoort Lane and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Garnet served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Lieut.Col. Garnet T. Trainor, of Brevoort Lane, who for the past four years has served in the A. S. F. , will revert to inactive status on June 2nd, it was announced this week at Fort Lewis, Wash.

A native of Australia who lived for much of his life in the US, Col Trainor served with the US: Army Air Corps during World War II and the Royal Australian Flying Corp in World War I.
He was also a former investment banking executive. For much of his career he worked for the firm of Dick & Merle-Smith in New York City. Col Trainor win born Feb 10 1894 in Melbourne Australia. After graduating with honors from Melbourne University he taught in both elementary and secondary schools in Australia.-
During World War I he served as a flight lieutenant and following the war attended the Sorbonne in Paris. While there he met his wife Mary Chabot Trainor. She died on April 1 1974. After a brief return to Australia Col Trainor came to the US in 1921. He and Mrs. Trainor settled in the Greenhaven section of Rye.
With World War II came more service in the armed forces this time for the US. The colonel first served as an assistant chief of staff for intelligence in the South Pacific and then was chief of training plans for the air corps Intelligence division at the Pentagon.
Along with Melbourne University and ton Sorbonne during his life Col Trainor studied at New York University, Christ Church College, Oxford and Columbia University where he earned master's degree in the school of business. Col Trainor was a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye and the Rye post of the American Legion.
Garnet Thomas Trainor of 160 Theodore Fremd Ave Rye died early Thursday June 1, 1982 at United Hospital He suffered a stroke five years ago and his son said Thursday that a relapse may have led to his death He was 88 year old.
At the time of his death, he was survived by son John T Trainor of Rye, a sister Alice Trainor of Melbourne and a brother Frank Trainor also of Melbourne.
