John X. Mc Weeney John X. Mc Weeney was born Dec. 3, 1916 in New Haven, to Laurence R. and Mary McWeeney. John had one brother Thomas and three sisters Jane, Margaret and Katherine. John moved to Rye in 1935 and his family lived on Halls Lane and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
He attended Philips Academy Andover and Yale University, before working as a business executive for a manufacturing company. He married Marjorie Sweeney Oct. 29, 1940.
John served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Lieut. McWeeney Discharged Lieut. John X. McWeeney, instructor in navigation at San Marcos Field. Texas, has received his honorable discharge from the Army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence M. McWeeney of Halls Lane and has been in the service since Dec, 20, 1944.
His brother, Pfc. Tom McWeeney, is stationed with a medical laboratory unit in China.

John X. McWeeney, a longtime Rye resident, died Sept. 28. He was 89.
John enjoyed tennis, painting and the NY Times crossword puzzle.
He was predeceased by Mrs. McWeeney, who died in June. John was survived by a daughter, Baroness Shawn De Gunzburg and her husband Baron Dimitri, of London, England and Provence; two sons, John L. McWeeney and his wife Felicity, of Shelton, Conn., and David McWeeney, of Rye; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Mark McWeeney; a daughter Marney Kennedy; and a grandson Peter Kennedy II.
A Funeral Mass was held at Resurrection Church.
