BIOGRAPHY
Emile Kunz was born in New York in 1914. In Rye his family lived on Pine Island and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Emile served as an officer in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Emile Kunz, 89, died March 22, 2004, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born Aug. 2, 1914, in New York, the son of Emile and Alida Kunz. After graduating from high school, he attended New York Maritime Academy. He worked aboard a ship of the Grace Lines and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II. After the war, Mr. Kunz worked as a machinist at Remington Rand in Norwalk, Conn., and later at Excelsior Hardware in Stamford, Conn., until retiring in 1974.
Mr. Kunz married Ruth Van Wagener on June 16, 1956, in Stamford. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in White River Junction and an associate member of the Vermont 1918 Club. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with burial following in Hartford Cemetery, both in White River Junction.
