Joseph Salvatore Cirillo of Rye, NY passed away on November 2, 2013. Born on December 12, 1926 in Fabrizia, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of Francesco and Rosina Cirillo. Prior to coming to the United States he was a certified teacher at the age of seventeen in Italy. He proudly served his country during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 as a Sargent First Class in the US Army. Following his military career he worked for the Sanborn Map Co. in Pelham, NY retiring in 1996 as President. He married the former Ada Raimondo in 1956. Together they raised three children. Joseph was a former officer of the Calabria Society in New Rochelle, a soccer referee, an avid stamp collector as well as a published author of short stories and poems that are still used in the Italian school systems. He traveled the world with his wife. Joseph will always be remembered for his unselfishness and his caring and giving nature. He is survived by his children Rosanna Phillips and Frank Cirillo and four grandchildren Frank, Jaimie, Joseph and David. His was predeceased by his wife Ada, son Joseph and brother Anthony. The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection on Thursday at 10 AM
