Anthony (Tony) Tropeano, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, NY passed away on March 12, 2012. Anthony was born on May 23, 1927, in Port Chester, NY to the late Luigi and Santa Tropeano of Scilla, Italy.
Tony graduated from Port Chester High School in 1945 where he met his bride Eleanor Paladino. They were married on July 3, 1948, at Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester, NY not long after he returned home from his service in the U.S. Air Force in Biloxi, MS.
Tony and Eleanor spent 62 wonderful years together until her death in 2010 and lived on Barton Place in Port Chester for 60 years where they entertained family and friends. His second home was in Longboat Key, FL where he and Eleanor escaped to the beach and company of friends.Tony and his brothers, John and Louis, founded Triple T Drywall and worked together on many homes in Westchester and Greenwich, CT. He was an active member of Corpus Christi Parish serving as an usher for many years, a member of the Port Chester High School Reunion Committee, and an active member on the Port Chester Architectural Board of Review.
He had a passion for cars and could often be seen driving around town in his 1940 Studebaker President or waxing his Cadillac in the driveway; but above all he cherished and loved his family.
Tony is survived by his daughter Eleanor Tropeano Arita of Bedford, NY and his son John Tropeano of New Canaan, CT and their spouses Alan Arita and Anne Begert Tropeano, his brother Louis Tropeano of Port Chester, sister-in-law Vera Collins of Port Chester, grandchildren Robert Arita and his wife Lisa, Jon Arita, and Richard Arita, Carrie, Sarah, and Andrew Tropeano, great-grandchildren Elijah and Miyoko Arita, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He is pre-deceased by his wife Eleanor, brothers John and Joseph Tropeano, and sisters Rose and Antonette. Visitation will be from 5 -8 pm on Thursday, March 15, at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30AM on Friday March 16, 2012 at Corpus Christi Church 136 South Regent St. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
