With a great sense of loss and deep sadness, the family of Edgar R. (Ed) Stoddart, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret) announce his passing on September 3, 2011 at Community Hospice. He was born February 1, 1932, in New Rochelle, NY. He graduated from the Citadel, class of '54 and retired after 22 years active duty with the US Marine Corp. Following retirement in 1974 he was a Mayoral appointee for the City of Jacksonville, and was involved in industrial sales. In later years he enjoyed family, golf and traveling until he moved to Brighton Bay in 2010. He enjoyed activities there and spearheaded the restoration of dollhouses for children. From his first marriage he had four children: Barbara Lundy, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Carolyn Miller, Richwood, OH; Bill (Vicki), Atlanta, and David (deceased). He is survived by his wife of 35 years (Joyce), stepchildren Gregory (Stephanie) Grant; Catherine Farah, Charleston, SC; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Memorial Service will be Friday Sept. 23 @ 10:45 a.m. at Brighton Bay with interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Florida Times Union, Sept 7 2011
