Douglas D. Sibley was born on 4/12/1928 and grew up in Rye with his brothers Robert and Kenneth. From a young age, Douglas was heavily involved in the local community, demonstrating commitment and leadership at the local YMCA and Presbyterian Church. He graduated high school in 1948, and worked as a popular dance instructor at Rye Recreation and theater production assistant. Later in life, he was appointed the 29th Master of the Harrison Lodge Freemasons and the leader of a local boy scout troop. Douglas proudly served his country during the Korean War.
