Richard H. Savage, beloved husband, father, and granddad died on Sunday, November 1st on All Saint's Day, surrounded by his adoring family. Richard was born on November 22, 1931 at United Hospital and is survived by his soul mate and wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Savage, his four children, Bonnie Spurr, Clifford Savage, Sharon Breese and Richard M. Savage and his ten grandchildren.
Richard served in active duty in United States Navy during the Korean War.
He dedicated 40 years of his life to the New York Telephone Company. He was a contributing member of the Rye Community serving as President of Rye Little League, one of the founders of the Rye Girl's Softball League, Recreation Commissioner, a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, a member of the Rye Boat Basin Commission, a volunteer fire fighter and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Above and beyond all that he did for the Rye Community, Richard showered on all his family and friends with unconditional love and his legacy of love will continue on within all of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed by all.
A wake will be held at Graham's Funeral home on Wednesday, November 4th from 5-8pm and the funeral will be held at Resurrection Church on Thursday, November 5th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation, http://www.alz.org.
