Robert W. Mertz, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather, died June 1, 2001. Born June 10, 1931 in Port Chester to Margaret Moroney Mertz of Rye and the late Henry F. Mertz. Graduate of Rye High School. Lifelong Rye resident, Veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. Former Captain of the Rye Volunteer Fire-Police Patrol. He was employed by C.M. Alny & Sons until he retired to live in Hobe Sound, FL in 1995.
Besides his mother, he is also survived by his wife Pauline (Minniti) of Hobe Sound, FL; sons, James H. of Montrose and Robert P. of Tarrytown and daughter, Beth Anne Clark of Greenwich; a sister Maureen Gallicano of Rye and a brother William of AZ; grandchildren, Ellen and Alex Clark and D.J. and Ryan Mertz. Family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Post Rd, Rye, NY on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Resurrection on Wednesday at 10:00am. Interment Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 would be appreciated.
