Kingdon P. Locker of Manchester Center, VT, formerly of Rye, NY, died suddenly on September 27, 2001 at his home. He was 72. He was the son of the late Mary and Frederic Locker also of Rye. Mr. Locker graduated from Rye High School in 1947 and St. Lawrence University in 1951.
He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Upon discharge from the Army, he attended Albany Law School where he graduated in 1956. He was a longtime member of the law firm of Clark, Gagliardi and Miller in White Plains, NY, and was a partner in his own law firm, Donahue and Locker. Prior to his retirement in 1997 he served as consul for the law firm of Mead, Hecht, Conklin and Gallagher of Mamaroneck, formerly of White Plains. He was a past member and Chairman of the Grievance Committee for the 9th Judicial District and was also Acting Judge for the City of Rye, NY. Mr. Locker was a past Trustee and Deacon of the Rye Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. He was also a member and past Secretary of the American Yacht Club, in Rye, NY. Mr. Locker was an avid skiier and for the past four years had been a ski instructor at Stratton Mountain, VT. He also enjoyed sailing, gardening and hiking.
Mr. Locker is survived by his wife, Linda Daly Locker, two daughter, Suzanne L. Szemplinski of Fairfield, CT and Jennifer L. Wood of Bellows Falls, VT; three grandchildren, Taylor Ward and Reed Daly Szemplinski and Matthew Potter Wood. Mr. Locker was cremated at Vermont Cremation Service in Manchester, VT. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 11 am at the Rye Presbyterian Church, Rye, NY.
