Paul LaRussell was born in Rye, New York in 1932. In Rye he lived on 48 Rosemere Street. He lived with his father Nicholas LaRussel, his mother Mary Larussell, his four sisters: Marion, Carmela, Rose and Ann, and his two brothers: Angelo and Nicholas Jr.. His father Nicholas was a sheet metal worker in New Rochelle for the Richards Air Conditioning Company. Paul's parents obviously considered school attendance to be very important because when Paul was in first grade he was recorded as not missing a single day of school at Rye Grammar School, and his sister Ann also didn't miss a day that same year. Paul attended Rye High School, and he graduated in the class of 1951. Paul played second base for the Rye Varsity baseball team, and he also played for the Rye Varsity Basketball team. Before he entered into the army Paul worked for the Life Savers Corp in Portchester. Paul LaRussell served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 51st Signal Battalion, which is the oldest signal battalion in the army.
