Kelly, Joseph W.
Joseph William Kelly of Venice Florida and Harrison, NY passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017 surrounded by loved ones at his daughter's home in Harrison.
Born on Sept. 18, 1928 in Rye, NY, he was the son of Joseph and Madeline (Balls) Kelly and the grandson of the late William H. Balls, the longtime Rye Police Chief.
Joseph earned his BBA from Iona College and served in the Korean Conflict as an Army Staff Sergeant.
In 1950, he married Joan Gotti who predeceased him in 2009. They settled in Harrison, NY and raised their seven children.
In 1962 Joseph joined Bankers Trust Co. and at the age of 33 became the youngest Vice President of the company. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Venice FL. They were both longtime members of the Coveleigh Club in Rye.
Joe is survived by his six children: Kevin (Janet) of Westport, CT, Robert of Harrison, Deborah of Mt. Kisco, James (Janalyn) of Roswell, GA, Tara (Robert) Fraioli of Harrison and Mark of Harrison. A son Paul predeceased him in 1971. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Tuesday May 23, from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Gregory the Great on Wednesday at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
