Paul F. Gerardi, Jr. lost a courageous battle with lung cancer on April 5, 2003 at the age of 74. He was born May 12, 1928 in Port Chester to the late Paul F. and Jennie Peterson Gerardi. He was a graduate of Rye High School and a Korean War veteran, having proudly served his country in Korea.
On November 7, 1953 he married Barbara Strozza at Resurrection Church in Rye. He worked for the City of Rye School System for 33 years, retiring in 1983. After his retirement he worked as a building engineer for Royal Executive Park and then the Westchester Academy of Medicine. He worked part-time at Corpus Christi Youth Center. Besides coaching basketball and baseball, he was an IAABO Referee.
During his retirement, he enjoyed working on his computer and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, plays and concerts. He was a parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church since 1957.
Mr. Gerardi is survived by his wife Barbara Gerardi and his four children Robert Gerardi, past Chief of the Port Chester Fire Department and Fire Inspector for the Village of Scarsdale, Paul R. Gerardi, Deputy Chief with the Fairview Fire Department and his wife Stephanie, Karen Foy of Oklahoma and her husband Brian and Steven Gerardi, a Police Officer with the Village of Mamaroneck and his wife Veronica. Also, his grandchildren Christine and Tara Gerardi, Paul J., Daniel and Andrea Gerardi, Melissa, Vincent, James and Connor Foy, Jennifer Blackburn and her husband Michael and Steven Gerardi and one great-granddaughter Kylie Lynn Blackburn. He is also survived by his aunt Minnie Straface and uncles: Harry and Philip Peterson and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard in August 2002.
Visitation will be 5-9 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8th and 9th, 2003 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Corpus Christi Church. Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Corpus Christi Youth Center, 136 South Regent St., Port Chester, NY 10573.
