Nicholas D. Loddo
Nicholas D. Loddo was born in White Plains August 22, 1924 to Dominick and Antoinette Cotroneo Loddo. He had one brother Anthony and five sisters; Julia, Marie, Margaret, Lucille and Rita. Nicholas was educated in White Plains schools.
His family lived at 12 Primrose St. and were members of Our Lady Mount Carmel Church. Nicholas's father served as a private in the U.S. Army during WWI and worked for Con Edison from 1926 until he retired in 1962.
Nicholas enlisted February 8, 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served as a Gunnery Corporal stationed at Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West.
After his honorable discharge, Nicholas returned home and started his own landscaping business.
 He married Carmel Vaccaro February 8, 1948 at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and they resided in Port Chester.
They would have two children Nicholas Jr. and Lorraine. In 1965 the family moved to Rye and lived on Grapal St.
As Nicholas continued to run his own landscaping business, he was very active in the Turf and Landscape Association, where he held many leadership positions.
For many years he volunteered at Rye Town Park where he built benches and planted trees and flowers.
Nicholas also found time to serve as a sergeant with Rye Police Reserves and was a former commander of the Rye American Legion, Post 128. He also served as committee member of Boy Scouts Troop 1, Resurrection School.
Nicholas and his wife, Carmel, liked to travel and went cross country in a Surburban for almost 2 months visiting National Landmarks.
As of this writing , February 2, 2023, Nicholas and Carmel are still on Grapal St and will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on
February 8th.
