Labella, John R.
John Robert Labella, a longtime Harrison resident, entered eternal rest on December 20, 2014. He was 84 years old. John was born on March 23, 1930 to Donato and Maria Labella in New York City. He moved with his family to Rye, where he attended school and graduated from Rye High School in 1950. After high school, John served his country proudly first in the U.S. Marine Corps. Reserves and then in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married Edith Taylor on April 7, 1956 and worked for many years as a machinist, retiring from Tennyson Machine and Tool in Mount Vernon.
John was a proud life member of VFW Post #3047 in Harrison, as well as a member of the Harrison Seniors.
John is survived by his wife Edith, as well as son Daniel (Lisa) and daughter Mary Ann Vaccaro; and four grandchildren, Rui de Melo, Katie and John Labella, and Emily Vaccaro. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Michael LaBella, and his sister, Louise Labella.
The Labella family will be receiving friends on Friday, 12/26, from 4-8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, N.Y.
