de Barros, Frederick
Frederick de Barros was born in the Bronx, NY on June 11, 1944 to Catherine and Leo de Barros who lived at 1 Park Washington Mews, NYC. He and his two brothers, Jayme and Lee moved with their parents to 11 Park Drive South, Rye, NY in September of 1944. Brothers Paul and Patrick were born two and four years later. Frederick graduated from Harrison High School and Pace University.
He entered military service in January 1966 and served with the US Army Infantry in Vietnam as a scout dog handler. His assignment was was to walk point with his scout dog Tinzer to detect ambushes, trip wires, and other dangers to the infantry unit behind him. After returning to the US he served as an instructor at the War Dog school at Fort Benning, Ga. He received an honorable discharge in January 1969.
Frederick married Mary Quinn of Rye in January 1970 and became the father of Erick and Leah. He has three grandsons, Thomas, John, and Quinn Borzoni. He worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service.
