Died In Service - Rye N.Y. - WWII
The veterans listed below have been identified to have died during World War II.
Once in an interview Tom Hanks (Saving Private Ryan) was asked “Is there anything worse than dying in a war”.
Hanks took a very deep breath and looked the interviewer in the eye and replied,
“Yes, only one thing,
Not being remembered”
On this page Everyday is Memorial Day and we are here to honor those who died. Each year the names of these men are called out at the service on the Village Green, sadly, most of us could not put a face to their names. We knew very little or nothing about them. Below we have created biographies of those men who died and we now know something of their sacrifice. We encourage everyone to read as many as you possibly can, they are truly memorable.
