Freeman Brooks was born in New York in 1904. In Rye his family lived at Blind Brook Lodge. Freeman served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Rye Men Called to Active Service at Fort Jackson

Dr. Freeman Brooks, of Blind Brook Lodge, and William M. Cahn. of Winderest Road, reserve lieutenants in the Army Reserve Corps. , have been called into active service. They have been assigned to duty a; Fort Jackson, S. C. Mrs . Brooks and her daughter. Catherine, will remain in Rye for the present. Mrs. Cahn will join her husband as soon as accommodations can be arranged.

George Freeman Brooks, M.D., 92, of Laurel Lake Drive, Tryon Estates, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Congregational Church of Christ, Tryon, with the Rev. Qj. Ronald Stegall officiating. McFartand Funeral Chapel is In charge of arrangements.
